Gus is One Month Old!

I can't believe Gus is already one month old! He was a little guy when he was born, so we've been very focused on gaining weight. He has been taking this challenge very seriously and has been eating about every two hours, so most of our days are spent on the couch nursing. But it seems to have all paid off because at our one month check up, he had gained quite a bit of weight! He's still pretty low on the percentage charts, but he started off low, so I'm sure he'll catch up soon. Here are the one month stats:

Weight: 8 lbs 3.9 oz (15%)
Length: 20.8 in (25%)
Head: 14.9 (39%)

As a reminder, he was born at 6 lbs 13 oz and 19.5 in, so he is growing like a weed! Other updates on development, he has rolled over from his tummy to his back three times! He is a strong little guys and loves tummy time for short periods, until he gets frustrated. He sleeps a lot but for very short stretches. At night, he won't sleep for more than about 2 and a half hours at a time, and usually it's closer to just one hour at a time, so I'm feeling pretty exhausted. Looking forward to the time when he will go a little longer at night.

Overall, he is a very happy guy! He doesn't cry very much except when he's hungry or tired. Right before he is about to fall asleep, he cries for a few minutes and then passes out. We call it "getting the fussies out."

Audrey is totally smitten with Gus! She asks if she can hold him every day, gives him hugs and sweet kisses on his forehead. She still doesn't like it when he cries but she doesn't cry every time. She always goes to check on him while he's napping and is always willing to help out whenever she can. She has also started nursing her dolls and talks about when she will be a Mama when she grows up!
This is the bunny that Audrey posed with when she was little.
It was my bunny as a child, the Velveteen Rabbit.

Such a sweet little Mama!

Newborn Photoshoot

We had our newborn photoshoot with Angie Lee this week. She was nice enough to come to our house, which made things much easier than trying to get two kids out of the house early in the morning. She did a wonderful job! Here are a few of my favorites.

Visitors for Gus

Over the past few weeks, we've been lucky to have quite a few visitors over to meet Gus. We haven't left the house much due to his unpredictable schedule and cold and flu season, so it's been great to see people!

Happy birthday, Gus!

Welcome to the world, August "Gus" Graham Lee! He was born on Friday, January 16 2015 at 3:45 p.m. weighing 6 lbs 13 oz and 19.5 in. long. He decided to arrive exactly one week early from his official due date.

I had been working from home a lot in the couple weeks leading up to my due date since I was starting to feel pretty uncomfortable. I went into work the day before he arrived because I had an all-day meeting I wanted to attend. It was a busy day and by the time I got home, I was exhausted and feeling a little strange. I went to bed and woke up at 3:00 feeling weird. I took some Tums (as I often did!) and went back to bed. Around 4:00 a.m., I felt a weird kick, or what I thought was a weird kick. I got up and realized my water had broken!

I called my parents so they could come over to watch Audrey. We got to the hospital around 5:30 and was admitted at about 7:00 a.m. At that point, I wasn't having contractions, so they gave me some Pitocin to get things going. I got the epidural at 11:00 and then things moved pretty slowly until 3:00. I was ready to push at 3:30 and he arrived at 3:45 (just two pushes!)! The first thing the doctor said when he arrived was that his umbilical cord was really big! He was screaming when he arrived and then quickly calmed down when he laid on my chest. So sweet. He was ready to try nursing immediately!

That night, Nana and Papa came to meet Gus. He pretty much slept the entire time we were in the hospital, except when he wanted to try to eat.

The next day was busy with doctors and nurses coming and going. We also had more visitors. Gaga and Papa, Jeannie and Aunt Mandy and Uncle Andy came to visit. Unfortunately, no kids were allowed in the hospital due to cold and flu season, so Audrey and the other kiddos had to wait until later to meet Gus. Audrey was staying with Gaga and Papa and we were able to Skype with Audrey so she could see him, but she didn't get to meet him until we got home on Sunday.

We headed home Sunday morning. Audrey was excited to meet Gus, but she cried every time he did!
Ready to go home - first time in the carseat!

Brother and Sister meet for the first time!

Annual Christmas Traditions

We continued our annual traditions and got our live Christmas tree and went to see Santa at Crown Center! We went to Biermann's farm and found a great tree. It was a little smaller than we usually get, but it was perfect.

Scott and Audrey always come down to Hallmark to meet me so we can go see Santa at Crown Center. The Santa there is always so nice and they have a fun play area that she loves. The only thing she asked for this year was a Barbie - the one with the horse!
