Gus is One!

Gus has changed so much in the last month! I was able to be off work over Christmas and it was so nice to be able to spend so much time together as a family. While I was home, Gus learned how to pull up - on everything! He's at that point now where he is fearless and we can't take our eyes off of him for a second - he's into everything! He's also learned how to crawl up the stairs and walk behind his baby walker.

Loves the baby walker!
He still doesn't have any teeth, which has made eating a bit of a challenge. We've been trying a lot of new foods over the last few weeks and it has been very hit or miss. He is still getting used to new textures since he's really only eaten purees and yogurt. When he tried rice and refried beans, he threw up. Literally, threw up. A bit dramatic, but he got the point across. He really only likes things that are sweet. He actually liked peanut butter quite a bit. He likes toast, loves apple sauce and peaches. He's also really into Cheerio's. For a while, he would gum them and then spit them out, but he just figured out that if he sucks on them, they will get soft and he can just swallow them - brilliant! We haven't started the transition to cow's milk yet, but he is doing well with the sippy cup.

Another exciting development - sleep! He just recently started sleeping through the night. Amazing! We realize now how spoiled we were with Audrey. She slept through the night at about four months and never went back. We thought that was normal. Apparently not. He's had a couple of nights when he wakes up but for the most part, he is sleeping through the night! He usually goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00 and wakes up around 6:30 or 7:00. Luckily, Gus and Audrey usually wake up at about the same time, not sure how we managed that! He's not a great napper at school, I think it must be too loud and distracting for him. But on the weekends, he typically takes two naps about an hour each.

We had his one year check up on Friday and they said everything looks great! Here are his stats:
Weight: 19.1 lbs (5%)
Length: 28 in. (9%)
Head: 18 in. (52%)

He continues to be pretty laid back for the most part. Although, he is starting to have his opinions about things and isn't afraid to show it. All of the sudden, he's decided he doesn't like his diaper changed or taking baths. I think it's because he wants to be on the move. We also tried to give him a bath in his big boy tub, but he really hated it, so we went back to the sink. He's getting way too big for the sink, so he's just going to have to get used to it!

You can't tell from the photos, but he's actually a very happy little guy! He loves his sister and gets very excited when Dada comes home from work. We love you so much, little guy!

Gus' First Birthday Party!

It's really hard to believe that my baby is 1 already! Where did this year go? Fastest one of my life! We had a great celebration with the family. Gus enjoyed seeing everyone and playing with his cousins. He was not a fan of the cake, not surprisingly. He's a pretty finicky eater these days.

Here he is gagging after tasting the cake! Not a fan...

Fun with cousins!

Such a proud big sissy!

Chatting with Babka

All the grandparents!
Happy birthday, buddy! We all love you more than you'll ever know!

Gus' First Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year. In fact, I think it was our best Christmas yet! Not only was it Gus' first Christmas, but Audrey is at the age where she is so excited about everything and it all seems so magical. Pretty fun to watch! She has so many questions (as usual) about how it all works. How does Santa get down the chimney? How do all of the elves make all of the gifts? What if Elfie (our Elf on the Shelf) has to pee when he's at our house? Does he go here or wait until he gets back to the North Pole? It's all a part of the Christmas magic. :-)

We spent Christmas Eve with Scott's family and Christmas Day with my family.

Happy kids in their matching Christmas jammies!

Opening the stocking...

She loved the unicorn that Gus gave her

Not sure about the present unwrapping

Note from Santa about her gift

Santa left a trail of ribbon leading to her present...

Surprise! A trampoline!

She loved it - time to jump!

Santa brought Gus some new toys, too!

Annual Santa Visit

We continued our annual tradition of seeing Santa at Crown Center. Gus was NOT a fan of Santa and didn't sit on his lap for very long. Audrey was super excited and asked for a trampoline and gummies.

Poor little guy!

Gus is 11 months old!

Gus is 11 months old! We went to see Santa (update in a separate post), so the kids are all dressed up! Here are a few of the best shots from what looks like a super silly photo shoot (sadly, Mama was still at work and didn't get to participate).

Happy 11 month old guy!
