We had professional family photos taken when we were at the beach and we just got them back. They turned out so well!

Gus is 7 Months Old!

The months continue to fly by and I'm trying to enjoy every moment! Gus is such a happy baby, it's so much fun! This is a really fun stage but I know that there are so many more fun stages coming as well. Trying to savor every moment with him.
Hair keeps getting longer and curlier!

Eyes are still blue!

Biggest development this month has been the start of school. I was SO nervous to take him. Audrey didn't start school until she was 2.5, so we'd never had an infant at day care so I didn't really know what to expect. Plus, he had been showing a few signs of stranger anxiety, so I was sure it was going to be a tough and emotional transition. I'm happy to report that he has adjusted so well so quickly! So far, he has not cried once at drop off - amazing! He's always happy when we leave and the teachers say he is a happy baby throughout the day. He doesn't nap much while he's there, but he's not a great napper at home either, so this hasn't been a surprise for us. The first few days I called a couple times to check in on him. The teachers have been really great. So thankful that it has been so easy! The hard part is just getting two kids out of the house in the morning! I'm still getting the hang of that routine!

We also been trying more solid foods. So far, he has not been excited about eating. We've tried rice cereal, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, chicken, avocados and bananas. Every time I feed him, he cringes, shudders and gags. He seems to really hate it! The only thing he will tolerate is rice cereal. The doctor said he might be more interested in feeding himself, so we're going to try some finger foods to see if that works. Guess he will eventually figure it out.

We had been going to physical therapy for his torticollis. At our last visit in July, she said he was doing well and didn't need to come anymore. He has been slightly behind in what he should be doing physically, but not enough that our doctor is concerned. He is trying so hard to sit up and even crawl. He can sit by himself for a few seconds before he topples over. He's so close!

He's also starting to be more vocal. In fact, he said Mama! Scott thinks I'm crazy, but I had a witness. I went to pick him up from school and he was having his bottle. So I started gathering his things up while he finished. He got upset because he couldn't see me and started fussing and said "Mama!" The teacher who was holding him even said "did he just say mama?" I was like "yes, he totally did!" Baby genius! He's also been saying "babababa". The other day it sounded like he said Bubba (our nickname for Brody) but I think it was just a coincidence. So cute to hear his little voice!

We finally took him to the pool for the first time but I think we waited too long because the water was really cold! We dangled his feet in the water and he was not a fan. Guess we'll have to try again next year.
