9 Months Old!

Audrey is 9 months old today! She is really starting to seem more like a little girl and less like a baby which is so fun, but sad at the same time...she is growing up so fast! We had our doctor's appointment and here are her official stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 1.5 oz (23%)
Length: 26.5 in (22%)
Head: 80%

The doctor said she looks great! She gave her a tongue depressor to play with and was extremely impressed with her hand-eye coordination.

This week she discovered how much fun it is to sit up in her crib during nap time instead of napping. She also wants to stand up all the time! She loves to hold onto the chair, coffee table, or ottoman and just stand and look around. And the latest development within the last few days - crawling! She has only gone short distances, but she's definitely on the move now - time to baby proof the house!

Pool Girl!

On Sunday, we took our first family trip to the neighborhood pool. I know what you must be thinking, "it's August, and this is the first time you're taking your poor daughter to the pool?" First of all, it's been really hot! I didn't want her to melt in 100+ degree weather. Plus, Scott and I aren't really "pool people", we are more "beach people", but I'm sure Miss Audrey will try to turn us into pool people as she gets a little older. So the weather was finally a little cooler and we headed to the pool. I bought her a swimsuit a while ago and I was happy to discover that it fit perfectly - bathing beauty! :-)

Ready to go!
So we got to the pool and we didn't have our key to get in. Apparently the previous owners didn't leave it for us. Luckily, there was one other woman there and she was nice enough to let us in. But other than her, we had the whole place to ourselves, which was kind of nice. So we put her in and the water was a little chilly. She was skeptical at first - she didn't quite know what to think. She didn't cry, but she just looked a little unsure about the whole thing. But after a few minutes of splashing around, she really started having fun! We even put her in her little floatie device and she liked being pushed around by daddy. So all in all, a successful day at the pool and I'm sure more to come!

From tummy to sitting up!

I've been wondering how babies manage to get into seated position from laying down, seems like it would be hard for them to do. Well yesterday, I found out! I've been trying to put Audrey on her tummy to encourage crawling (I think we're close!), but she doesn't like it for some reason. So yesterday, she figured out how to get from her tummy to sitting up all by herself! She was pretty proud of herself once she did it. So I immediately decided we needed to drop the crib. Unfortunately, we were heading out the door to a wedding, but Gaga and Papa came over to babysit and Papa was able to drop the crib for us so she wouldn't hop out of it (which I was convinced she was going to do). It so fun to see her gaining more independence and trying to figure things out on her own - such a big girl!

First Road Trip!

Our family - Audrey's first wedding!
Audrey took her first road trip this weekend and she did great! We drove to Hamilton, IL for my cousin Trent's wedding. It's about a 4.5 hour drive, so I was a little worried how she would handle it, but she did really well! We left the house at about 11:30 after her first nap. We only had to stop once for gas, diaper change and a bottle. She even slept for a little more than an hour in the car! The rest of the time, she played with toys and read books. She was a happy girl, as usual!

When we arrived, we got settled in to the hotel and I went to the rehearsal dinner with my parents and sister and her kids (Andy couldn't come because he had to work) while Scott stayed at the hotel so we could get Audrey to bed on time. We got her to bed at the usual time and she slept through the night until after 7:00 - success! The next day, the wedding was at 11:00, so she was able to nap before we left, so she was very happy during the ceremony. It was a really beautiful wedding. Trent and Carla were one of the happiest, most adorable couples I've seen on their wedding day - they were positively giddy and glowing! They had a lunch reception after the ceremony and Audrey even stayed through most of that before Scott had to take her back to the hotel for a long overdue nap. Then Scott was stuck in the hotel again that night while I went to my aunt and uncle's house for dinner - Daddy was a huge help as usual! So all in all, it was a great weekend - I think we have a traveler on our hands!

The happy couple Trent & Carla -
they should probably be in Hawaii by now!
One thing I noticed as I was downloading all of the pictures I took was that it is really hard to get a good photo where everyone looks good. Either Audrey is smiling and everyone else isn't, or vice versa. Maybe I'm a just terrible photographer..Thought I would post some outtakes of Audrey with Gaga and Papa...I couldn't manage to get one good one! :-(

Gaga & Papa look good, Audrey's looking away

Everyone say "Surprise!"

Audrey's happy, but what's Gaga doing?

Daddy & Audrey - all dressed up!

Meredith was a flower girl and she loved every minute of it!
Getting Papa's nose!

Aunt Mandy and Gwendolyn -
she usually doesn't sit still long enough to be photographed!
