Summertime fun at the pool

So far this summer, we have taken full advantage of our neighborhood pool. Audrey loves swimming and making friends. We've met quite a few of our neighbors there, too! Swimming lessons start tomorrow, so I think she'll be swimming before we know it...she's quite a little fish! The other day she was in the baby pool and she tripped and fell in the water. Before Scott could get to her to rescue her, she had already figured out how to stand back up. Scott said she has excellent survival skills.

Shatto Milk Farm Tour

Memorial Day weekend we made the trip up to the Shatto Milk Farm to tour the facilities. It was about an hour and a half drive for us, so it took most of the day, but well worth the trip! We met up with Gaga and Papa and Aunt Mandy, Uncle Andy, Meredith and Gwendolyn.

We got to see how the cows are milked. When the cows came into the barn to be milked, one of them pooped everywhere (later when I asked Audrey what her favorite part of the day was, she said "the poop!"). Then we saw the baby calves and had the chance to milk a cow with our hands. Being the germaphobes that we are, Audrey and I declined the offer. Then we got to see how they bottled the milk and then ended the day with a milk and cheese tasting. Audrey refused to try any of the flavored milk, she just wanted regular milk. She's a milk purist.

Psychic Connection

Today, Audrey read my mind. I know it sounds hard to believe, but it was too eerie not to be true. We were driving home from school today and she was singing "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round." I was thinking to myself about how I had not eaten very well that day (busy day at work) and was really hungry. I was thinking about what I wanted to eat when I got home and thought potato chips sounded really good, but knew I needed something more healthy after what I'd had that day. Right at about this time, Audrey said "Mama's hungry! Mama wants chips!" It was so crazy! No other explanation except clairvoyance, obviously.

Potty Trained!

It's official - Audrey is potty trained! She's starting school in June and has to be potty trained to get into the pre-school room, so we knew we had to get this figured out! We made our first attempt about a month ago and she just wasn't ready - had lots of accidents and just wasn't interested in it. So we tried again this weekend and it just sort of clicked with her. She's only had two accidents and is doing a great job. Her reward is Goldfish and she just loves them.

We're still doing diapers during naptime and nighttime. One of the first times I put a diaper on her for naptime, she said "big girls don't wear diapers, they wear panties!" So I had to explain to her that she still had to wear one while she slept for a little while and she was okay with that. I think our little girl is ready for school!

Easter 2013

Audrey had a great Easter this year. Her favorite part? Hunting eggs! In fact, she's been hunting eggs at home ever since! We started the day off by surprising Audrey with her gifts from the Easter bunny. She got a Crayola sketching board, modeling clay, stickers and animal crackers.

Then we headed to brunch with my family followed by an Easter egg hunt at Gaga and Papa's house.

It was a beautiful day for an Easter egg hunt outside and Audrey couldn't get enough!

Then we headed home for a nap and to prepare for the next celebration. Scott's family came to our house to celebrate and hunt more eggs! Audrey had a great time!
