This weekend, we took a road trip to Bella Vista, AR with Scott's family to celebrate his Dad's 75th birthday and his brother and sister's 40th birthday. Audrey hadn't been on a real road trip since we went to my cousin's wedding last July, so we weren't sure how it would go, but she did really well! We left on Friday around noon hoping she would take her nap in the card. No such luck. She tried to fall asleep finally around 2:00 or so (she usually naps around noon), but she didn't stay asleep long. But other than that, she was pretty good in the car. Aunt Crystal gave us some kids song CDs that she loves listening to, so that helped.
Scott's parents rented a nice house right on the lake that had enough room for the whole family. We weren't sure where Audrey would sleep, but luckily, the room Scott's parents stayed in had a huge walk in closet which doubled perfectly as a bedroom for Audrey. The pack 'n play fit nicely in there and it was dark and quiet - perfect!
Everyone went golfing on Saturday and Sunday, so Aunt Laura and I stayed home with the kiddos and cooked on Saturday and went to the pool on Sunday. Saturday afternoon, we rented a boat for a few hours. Unfortunately, Audrey really hated it for some reason and Billy was getting too hot, so they dropped us off at our dock so we could go home early. Other than that, we didn't have any major meltdowns. I think Audrey had a good time. She especially loved spending time with her cousins - she just loves Sydney, Ryan and JT. She also likes Billy most of the time, but when he cries or makes any kind of noise, she just melts down. I'm not sure why, I think it's because she is very empathetic. She does the same thing if she hears a baby cry when we're out at the store. She just wants everyone to be happy at all times!
