Yesterday turned out to be a rather challenging day...and it wasn't even because of sweet Audrey! It was the other children...the furry ones! It all started in the morning...
Audrey got up as usual around 7:00 to eat. I let the dogs outside around 8:00 as usual. After about 30 minutes, Brody came in but Oscar wouldn't. It looked like he was chasing something he saw in the bushes in the backyard. Luckily, Audrey went down for a nap around 9:30 which allowed me to put on my boots and go outside to investigate (in my snowflake pajama pants - I'm sure the neighbors had a good laugh at my expense). Right as I got outside, Oscar emerged from the bushes with a small animal in his mouth! I yelled at him to drop it and he did (it was yelping and twitching!), so I grabbed him and took him inside for a bath. I then called Scott frantic (he of course was at work and missed the whole thing!). He then tells me I'm going to have to get a shovel and toss the critter over the fence so the dogs can't get it. I tell him it looked like a mole - small and gray. I go back outside, shivering with anger and disgust and discover that it is a helpless little baby bunny! So sad! Luckily it had died and was not in misery anymore. So now every time that Oscar goes outside, he is hunting for new prey. Cold blooded!
Another unfortunate development at the Lee house - our first cold! I noticed it coming on yesterday, and now Audrey appears to have it as well. Luckily, she still slept through the night last night, but she has been sneezing and coughing a lot! It doesn't seem to be a bad one, so hopefully we will both get over it soon.

4 Month Stats!
We went to our 4 month doctor's appointment today for Audrey. They said she looks great! She really hated the shots this time, even more than last time. Poor little ladybug...:-(
Weight: 11 lbs. 6.5 oz (10%)
Length: 23.5 in (31%)
Head: 41.4 cm (63%)
She is now taking another nap...going to the doctor is so exhausting!

4 Months Old!
Loves her tutu! |
4 months old! |
Audrey is 4 months old today! She just keeps getting more and more fun and it's so amazing to watch her little personality start to come out. She is "talking" more and more and is very expressive. You can tell she has a lot to say and wants to get it out! Unfortunately, as you'll see in the photos, she is not very photogenic yet. For some reason, every time I get the camera out, she gets this scowl on her face. I think she hates the flash. I swear she smiles all the time but you wouldn't know it by looking at the photos I've been taking!
Yes, that is Elvis! Our friend Stacy made it - adorable! |
Somebody's a Beatles fan (just like mommy)! |
She is very into grabbing things now. Today she even starting grabbing her pacifier and trying to get it into her mouth. She was close but didn't quite make it! She is also very into sucking her thumb. She is still having stranger anxiety, but I think it's getting better. Gaga and Papa babysat this past weekend and I think she was pretty good for them (at least they said she was!) and we hung out with Scott's family on Sunday and Aunt Crystal really won her over! We have our 4 month doctor's appointment on Wednesday, so I'll post her official stats then.

Week 16 - Rolling over (caught on video)!
Audrey has had another week of milestone accomplishments! I can't believe how much she changes week to week - it is so amazing to watch! So this week, she rolled over! I even caught it on camera - well, the third time she did it, I caught it on camera. See below - front to back (please excuse the amateur-ish nature of the video - I'm still practicing my camera skills)!
She is also showing more interest in toys. I caved and bought her the famous Sophie. For those of you that aren't parents, Sophie is a rubber squeaky giraffe. It's French, so therefore ridiculously overpriced. But for some reason, all babies love it and mine is no exception. This is the first toy she has tried to grab! Unfortunately, it is quite similar to a dog toy, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Brody and Oscar get their paws on it.
Another not so fun development this week - stranger danger! For some reason, she doesn't want to be held by anyone except mommy or daddy. Even the grandparents can't hold her without tears being shed! I don't know why this is happening, but Scott's brother's wedding is next weekend, so we better get this figured out before then when we have to leave her! I think the grandparents are taking it personally, but the books say this is a common phase for babies to go through...hopefully she will outgrow it soon!
This week, Audrey's cousin Meredith is in town with her daddy to look for houses! We are excited that they will be moving here this summer! Audrey just loves Meredith! They wore matching outfits the other day and it wasn't even planned! Meredith is quite the little fashionista!
Finally, an update on sleep! She is back to sleeping through the night this week. In fact, Thursday night she slept from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. - amazing! Last night she slept 11 hours, so hopefully we are back on track with night sleeping. She is still just taking short catnaps throughout the day (about 30 min. each), but as long as she continues to sleep through the night, we are all happy! :-)

Week 14 & 15
So remember last time when I said Audrey was sleeping through the night and things were getting easier? Well, I think I jinxed myself! We've had kind of a rough patch this week with our sleep habits. She was back to waking up twice per night! I think she had a little bit of a cold and it threw off her sleep habits. We are starting to get back on track...last night she slept for 9 hours straight and then went back to bed (still sleeping as we speak!). The thing that is frustrating is that just when you think you've figured out her schedule, it changes. Week to week. This is definitely teaching me to be more flexible and just try to go with the flow (and stop reading so many baby books!). Another lesson learned - if she falls asleep in the carseat, let her be! We went over to Nana and Papa's for dinner and she hadn't napped much all day. She fell asleep in the car on the way there around 6 and slept the entire time and didn't wake up until we got home at 10:00! Nana and Papa were disappointed that they didn't get to play with her, but they know how important sleep is!
Other changes to report include better head control - she is holding her head up 90 degrees during tummy time now! We've still been trying to get her to laugh and she has just started to "squeal in delight" - apparently this is another milestone! She is much more expressive and really loves to read books. Another thing we just discovered about Audrey...she appears to have curly hair like her daddy. This week, the sides started curling up so after her last bath, I let it air dry and didn't brush it and voila! Curls! Her eyes are also starting to look more and more brown each day...just like her mommy's! :-)
We had a few fun outings. Last Tuesday, we met up with Laura and her son Henry, Monic (aka TeeTee MoMo) and Emily (aka Aunt Em). We went to happy hour at Grand Street Cafe. It wasn't so happy for Audrey though. She was really tired and fighting sleep, but finally fell asleep in my arms. So as usual, I ate with one hand and then left! It was so great to see the gals though!
On Wednesday, we went to Hallmark to visit! It was so great to see everyone! We went during lunch and then I went to see my new office (my department moved while I was out). Audrey did pretty well and enjoyed meeting my coworkers! We convinced Daddy to come with us, so he was a big help!
This weekend we went to the Fry's for dinner. We got there just in time to see Garrett before he went to bed - Audrey was happy to see him! He is 9 months now and crawling everywhere - what a cutie!
